❤️ He could have saved himself… but he chose his friend.On the morning of September 11th 2001, Abraham “Abe” Zelmanowitz was on the 27th floor of the World Trade Center with his close friend and colleague, Ed Beyea.Ed was paralysed and used a wheelchair.When the planes hit, people were desperately trying to escape.Abe could have run.People told him to leave.But Abe simply refused.“I’m staying with my friend.”He stayed beside Ed, waiting and hoping they could be rescued.At one point, Abe held the phone to Ed’s ear so he could speak to his mum one last time.Imagine being his mum… knowing those were the final words your son ever heard from his friend. 💔Abe had every reason to be terrified.But he didn't leave Ed alone.He stayed.Until the very end.Both men lost their lives when the North Tower collapsed.Today, their names sit side by side at the 9/11 Memorial.And perhaps that's the most heartbreaking part of this story…Abe didn't just call Ed his friend.He proved it.❤️ Because true friendship isn't just about who stands beside you when life is good… it's about who refuses to walk away when life becomes unbearable.Never forget. 🕊️9/11/2001
